I scream, you scream, we all scream for... Well, it's actually just me screaming in this one

If any of you have ever been curious about what I sound like when someone's foolish enough to let me replace my keyboard with a microphone, then, by all means, I encourage you to download this song from a demo that I'm putting together with my friend, Felix.

As usual, I'm playing guitar and singing while Felix does everything else. I would have mixed my voice further back in the first verse, but this isn't a bad rough cut for now.

Just a little bit of fun...

Somehow the style and the voice reminds me on >>Simple Minds<<. On the other side, every time I read your posts it seems your mind isn't simple at all ;-)

Great stuff, man. Keep on going...

Thanks for the comments, people :) I've been making music with Felix for a while, and we're both pretty busy, so getting music done/out is tough. If we aren't going to be playing around town on any sort of a regular schedule, then I at least wanted to get a sample of our music out *somehow*...

We didn't write it to just leave it gathering dust - we wanted people to hear it, so thanks for giving us the chance to dump it on *you* :)

"When does the CD come out?"

Part of the reason I'm so happy about getting a bit of time off here is that I might finally be able to answer that question...

For the time being, it's pretty hard to say, but we *do* have the arrangement for the album figured out. Now it's a matter of recording/re-recording our stuff.

[::shrug::] Guess I really don't know when :)

I'll mail 'em to you...

A little too personal to put up here without the context of the music :)

*You* get to live in Italy :)

In Portland it rains so much that there isn't a chance to do anything *but* write, sing, and play the guitar.

The brief time that I spent in Italy a few years ago was absolutely wonderful.

Sure, the trains didn't run on time, but it didn't matter. I haven't been anyplace like it, and I think that you, sir, should consider yourself quite fortunate to be living there :)

Ok, are YOU the reason the new U2 album has been delayed for so long??? C'mon, Rory -- release the band and just let them get on with it, man!

Seriously, cool sound!

Hey - are you going back through the archives? This is one old post, my friend.

"Seriously, cool sound!"

Thanks :) We have more where that came from...

Yeah, I'm trying to catch up on your old posts. I see that blogging is going to eat up all my free (and not so free) time -- I'm new to this.

Are any other songs available?

For more songs, check out http://neopoleon.com/blog/music.aspx

There's a couple of songs there - one of them is goodish, while the other (Ordinary Guy) is *quite* unfinished.

Most of our stuff is lying around in various states of finishitude. We have a lot more stuff written, but a lot of it just isn't completed. It sucks, but you only have so much time... :)

Now that I'm in Connecticut and have access to Carl's studio, I'm going to do some stuff by myself. What I do on my own is a bit different than what I do with Felix, although you can get hints of it in the chorus and ending of Ordinary Guy (the verses there were mostly Felix's writing).

You guys definitely have some potential there. I'm sure other people have told you this, but you're a definite cross between 80's U2 and Simple Minds. Definitely very 80ish, though -- not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm a big 80's fan.

I've been getting a bit into recording lately, but since I just started playing the guitar about 2.5 years ago (after I turned 40), I only rate about a 1.5 on a scale of 1-10 -- huge improvement from last year, when I was a 0.5. My "recording studio" is an Omega Lexicon Pro (or is it Lexicon Pro's Omega?). Damned if I know -- I'm still so new to this.

Trying to learn .NET and guitar in all my waking hours. Work gets in the way ;) Trying to fit in my wife and daughter, also. Sleep is overrated.

I'm looking to sign up for Carl's VB.NET Master class in May or June, so maybe I'll catch you up there in New London.
