The after dinner mint of blogging

There are times when I want to post something, but it's only one line.

I don't post these things because I don't like the idea of grabbing your attention for a post that's only a line long. Unless I'm going to be posting a whole lot more that day, it isn't worth it for you to go out of your way just to read that line.

OK - sometimes it is. If it's a really kick-ass line, then it's worth it. But, most of the time, the one-liners I want to write are basically just these "So-and-so had a cool post. Go look at it," things.

For some reason, I just don't feel right about using an entire post just for one little message like that.

To be able to fulfill my desire, then, to put out the "So-and-so had a cool post" type posts, and to also not bother you with one-liners, I've invented what I'm calling the "After Blog Mint."

It's going to be a small space at the bottom of my posts that will be used to deliver a little note. That way I can slip my little messages in without wasting anybody's time.

You can see the first After Blog Mint in this post.

If you want to steal this idea, by the way, then goferit. I don't even know if it's my invention. It's entirely possible that I stole it from somebody else.

If I did, then HA! I got away, sucka! And there's nothing you can do about it...

After Blog Mint [?] :

If you're TechEd bound, then remember that we're going to have a Coding Slave meet-up on the evening of Sunday, 5/23 - Details to follow...

Just keep your eyes peeled for the date/time, and help spread the word (which, I know, you're already doing) :)

There might be other stuff to do, and I'll definitely get in touch with you if that's the case...

Just received and finished Coding Slave this weekend. Count me in.

By the way Rory, is there something you want to announce (or did I miss an announcement)?

From the TechEd breakout descriptions:
.NET talk show hosts Carl Franklin and "Rory Blyth from Microsoft" about the major announcements of TechEd 2004.

and 'Rory Blyth from Microsoft'"

Whoah :) Maybe MS is getting into hiring first and interviewing later.

Seriously, though, is that on the web somewhere? I'd love to see it, get a screen shot, and cherish it forever.

It's *definitely* a mistake.

From the drop down list of speakers, choose "Carl Franklin" and click Search.

Read the description for DEVC14.

Congratulations! And I'm glad I got to be the one to deliver the news. Guess you'll be moving back to the Northwest... (and you thought there were no strings attached for going to that MVP Summit)
