Note: In this post, I had originally stated that unions were for old lazy
people. It has since occurred to me that unions are also bad because of young lazy
people (even more so, as they probably don't even have anything to talk about while
they stand around waiting for the day to end, which makes them lazy and boring). To
summarize: unions are bad because of lazy people, be they old or young.
So, then, on with the original, but slightly modified, post.
----------
Well...
Got my butt kicked in a conversation today on Chris Sells' off
topic mailing list. I brought up the whole issue of a programmer union, and just
got totally wiped out (insofar as one can "lose" at conversation).
It wasn't a bad kind of beating - It was, rather, a "What were you thinking,
boy?" sort of flogging.
I learned quite a bit. Mainly that a union probably isn't something that programmers
want. So, because I don't want to deceive
anybody, I would like to acknowledge, in front of millions,
that my previous
post about unions was stupid (except for the funny parts - they weren't stupid).
It turns out that unions are a way for lazy people to keep jobs that should go
to bloodthirsty bastards like me.
I'm glad to have gotten that cleared up, and I'm really glad not to be pushing
unions anymore. Unions are dumb.
If you like unions, then it's probably because you have brain damage (although you
might also just be misguided (and/or lazy)).
So, just carry on, everybody.
