VS .NET 2003 - Problem solved

Less than 12 hours after initially hearing from Joe Bork, I am now able to develop and debug CF applications properly.

Many, many thanks to Joe and his other team members for helping me out.

I think that's worth a spot on the coveted Neopoleon blogroll (OK - It isn't that coveted, but it's the thought that counts, eh?).

Bah! The link's nothing. Because you guys got the problem solved, I didn't tear all my hair out. Also, I took a better look around your site tonight (before, I had only seen your blog), and got a chance to see the trolls/clippings sections. Both are great. I love the "Bathtime" photo. Good stuff.

You might want to share how the problem was fixed so that others having the same problem can benefit from your knowledge?

I'd post the solution, but it's rather long, and seems to have been peculiar to my box. There are solutions out there, but none of them worked for my particular situation. It was really weird. I'd suggest that you just do a search on "Cannot establish a connection" compact framework. That got me enough of a start that I was able to run through all of the common reasons for the error.
