[Update] The list thing works now - read on if you don't understand - Go
check it out if you do - are you on it?
I've put together a cute little system to help spread the word about the charitable
RSS feeds.
Here's how it works...
What to do
Copy the following HTML, and post it somewhere on your site:
<a href="http://www.neopoleon.com/blog/rssLink.aspx?url=YourAddress"><img
src="http://www.neopoleon.com/blog/images/rssLogo.gif" border="0"></a>
How you benefit
Do you see the part of the URL that says "YourAddress?"
Replace "YourAddress" with the address to your blog/site/whatever. For example, if
I were to create a link that would go on my page, this is what the link would look
like:
<a href="http://www.neopoleon.com/blog/rssLink.aspx?url=www.neopoleon.com"><img
src="http://www.neopoleon.com/blog/images/rssLogo.gif" border="0"></a>
The image that will show up in the link is the following:
If anybody clicks on the link from your site, then your web address will show up in
a list that will be appearing on this page (there's no list yet because it would be
empty - I'll fix that within a couple days - your hits are still being recorded).
The more hits that I get from your page, the higher your address will appear in the
list.
Pretty good deal, eh? More traffic goes to the charitable feeds, and you get a free
link for just copying and pasting some HTML.
One last note
I've gotten some suggestions for charities, but would like to see a wider spread from
which to choose. If you want to influence this, then please send me a note with the
charity you would like to see as the first benefactor of this whole thing.
Also, I recently switched the feeds from 2.0 feeds to 0.92 because of the wider adoption
of the latter. There were some problems for some people with 2.0 - 0.92 ought to fix
that.
