Looks like RSS4C (RSS for Charity) got Sellsdotted and Winerdotted.
This is a good thing.
If you've just arrived and happen to find yourself wondering about "what the Big Deal
is," I'll tell you.
The Big Deal
The Big Deal is that the proceeds from these feeds will go to charity. I've decided
on October 15 as the first payoff date. That should provide enough time to get this
thing off the ground, as well as enough time to implement the rest of the feature
set that I have planned.
The target amount is going to be $150.00. This might not sound like much, but I have
to be realistic. I don't want to go promising that we're going to send a check for
thousands of dollars to some organization when, in fact, the dough isn't arriving
in those amounts.
Still, though, $150.00 is decent money, and as I make this thing more user-friendly,
there isn't any reason that this amount couldn't be reached (or surpassed).
The whole point of this "experiment" was to show that code can be turned into charity.
I'm sure that someone else has done this, too, but I'm an empiricist, and like to
see things for myself.
I figured that you can't build a house for someone with code, and you can't really
make them a sandwich with it (not even with C#), but you can redirect a little
bit of dough that was going to go to a company anyway (in this case, Amazon).
If you're interested, then you should read the FAQ and
then check out the feeds.
As for myself, I'm going to disappear for a couple days. I have some coding/writing
to do, and some grandparents to visit.
