A few notes about driving from Las Vegas to LA

  1. Las Vegas gas stations have slot machines inside, and speed limits on the freeway are optional. That's interesting. I never knew that.
  2. When driving from Las Vegas to LA, you'll spend much of your time looking for LA and a good radio station. You might find LA.
  3. Once you've given up on the radio station, you'll find yourself listening to more static than you expected to. That isn't the weird part. The fact is, you should really be asking yourself why you expected to listen to static at all in the first place.

It's 4:00 AM, and I've just checked in to the hotel. I'm dirty, hungry, tired, and have noticed that the fires have made this entire city smell like beef jerky.

It was an interesting drive. I didn't rent a Porsche. When I asked for one, I was told that they didn't have any, but they did have “this car that's kind of like a Porsche, except that it's called a 'Chevrolet Cavlier' and is made in America.”

That wound up being a good thing, as I couldn't possibly afford to rent a Porsche and then drive it a few hundred miles across state lines.

Porsche or no Porsche, it's been a weird fifteen hours. When I finally arrived in the LA area, I could see some fires burning in the hills, and it was snowing ash.

I'm going to bed.

Great Story! And everything in Vegas has slot machines, when you go to a payphone you have to make sure you are putting your money in the right slot.
