Just saw my first Indigo demo, and my "this sucks" list hasn't changed. Indigo doesn't suck.
Chris and Don just built a blogging client with about .025 lines of code.
This might freak some developers out. Quite a few developers live for the complexity of the tools they use, and they probably think they're going to be a bit expendable in the future.
This might be true, and I can't wait. I've been coding my entire life, and have more or less lost my interest in making things complicated. There are too many projects that I want to complete, and too little time in which to do them. I was pushing, popping, and inting before I hit puberty, and have no further interest in manually manipulating bits.
All this stuff we're seeing is incredible. The recent years of my life have been a painful chain of decisions about which apps I'm going to write, and which ones I'm going to have to leave behind. What I'm seeing now are tools that are going to make it possible for me to focus on what I want to create rather than what I'll have to ditch. That's exciting.
Couple of random notes:
1. Just ran into Phil Weber. Nice to know we're all here and alive and well.
2. If you took my advice and moved to the back of the hall, then the answer to your question, "Is that urine I smell?" could very well be a strong "maybe." There's definitely an odor here in the corner.
