DonXML points us to a real life ER guy

I'm always thinking about how us nerds need to (seriously need to) get out more often and take a look at parts of the world that don't directly involve code, or AA batteries, or LCD panels, or small robotic dogs that shower you with small robotic love, or whatever.

Now would be a good time to plug my Louvre RSS feed which delivers, on a somewhat regular basis, pieces of artwork from the Louvre along with relevant descriptions, but that's just what a shameless self-promoting schmuck would do. Fortunately, I have more class than that.

No, my friends. What I'd really like to point you to is this emergency room doctor. I was getting my daily dose of DonXML (I miss you, Don - we have to get together and booze it up again (boozing with Don is not to be missed)) when I saw the link to the medical practitioner in question.

I think it's pretty interesting. It's safe to say that I'll never be an emergency room doctor unless I falsify some credentials and put people's lives in danger (unless you happen to know of a medical school that would accept a high-school dropout with a .86 GPA), so getting to read about the real life of one of these people is about as close as I'll ever get.

I can't go to TechEd this year (moving to Chez XML that week), so we will need to find another event to booze it up. Maybe Chris will throw another Sells-a-thon this summer, this time on the East Coast. I guess that is a good question for Friday's .Net Rocks.

You would make a good doctor, except for that Germ OCD thing :)

I've never boozed it up with Don nor do I really know him, but he did a kickazz job on the birds-of-a-feather at the NN3UG meeting I attended last month.

Blogs=information

Just my view of the world-

I think the future will be about information and the access to it. I mean think about it there are allot of people in this world and the odds are that 1 person might come across some issue or problem they have not encountered before, and the odds are that someone else has come across that problem and solved it. Now these two different people might be neighbors or on different continents. With the advent of the internet they can easily find each other. That’s assuming one of them has a presence on the web, and I think that blogs will allow the normal everyday joe to have a presence on the web. I’m sure blogs will evolve into more than just text and pictures but that for another discussion.

I also see an end to news the way it is viewed today. I don’t want to sit down for an hour each day and watch the local 6 o’clock news and have to deal with all of their stupid jokes and banter. I want the news that matters to me, and I can get that with a mouse click or two. So with technology advancing, cell phones with cameras, it wont be that far off before everyone has a digital video cam in their phone, connect that with the internet and you have a new form of media. It will be a real uncensored view of the world.

Nevermind the drug test, how did you manage to get a job interview as a "high-school dropout with a .86 GPA"?
