If you've been working with the WinHEC build of Longhorn and you're frustrated about not having an IDE since you're really just a glorified VB programmer (like yours truly), then do yourself a favor and check out xmlspy Home Edition (feature comparison between Ent/Pro/Home here). I was using Visual SlickEdit v9.0 in demo mode until it expired today, and I'm not at all upset that it did. I had been meaning to switch anyway, so that was as good a reason as any.
Since so many Longhorn related files are XML, xmlspy does a great job. It will also handle your code files and color code the syntax, which is awesome.
Not bad for free.

Looks like Roy Osherove was made an MVP. That's pretty cool.
Maybe he'll invite me to the next summit ;)
