My mom has been making some waves around Portland (her last name is “Moyo“ - don't ask) for having taken part in suing the city for something or other to do with some protesting and pepper spray. I haven't been paying that much attention to what's happened, but I understand that some cops pepper sprayed my mom, some other people and their babies, and then the group, known locally as "The Portland Eleven" (how's that for pretentious) went after the city's change purse.
The fact that all of this happened without my really caring has made it all too obvious that I might be just a tad too apolitical and apathetic. I think this is probably the case for many geeks, as we tend to live inside our heads rather than in the world around us.
To battle this, I've decided to take up my own cause: Fighting for children's rights by getting "The Factory Act of 1833" repealed. Children have been denied certain basic freedoms for far too long.

For the children.
For the world.
For peace.
