On TV tonight

The DNR (check out the new web site) crew is going to be on the A&E channel tonight, taking part in Caesars 24/7. It’s one of those reality TV things.

From the description on the web site:

Four big time nerds in town for a computer programmer's convention decide to take a break from boring seminars and try to pick-up a woman they meet at the bar. Are they up to the challenge?

I thought that was a pretty generous description. If I were in charge, it probably would have been something like this:

Four shining examples of the species programmerum socialis-incapabiles are seen outside their natural habitat. Our crew, adept at the art of big game hunting, sprayed key areas of the Las Vegas strip with Essence of Pocket Protector, and these poor animals followed the scent and fell into our cunningly set trap. After their arrival, they spotted a female of a compatible species, homo sapiens, and began a complex, bizarre, and poorly understood courting ritual that has never before been captured on video. It is extremely rare for programmerum socialis-incapabiles to attempt to mate in captivity, or anyplace else for that matter, so this is truly a singular treat, indeed.

But I’m not in charge.

If you want to watch, it’s going to be on A&E at 10:00 PM Pacific. I’m not sure about times for other parts of the universe.

If you can’t watch tonight, but would like to watch it sometime, the show will be rebroadcast on the following dates/times:

– Feb 1st – 2:00 AM

– Feb 5th – 3:00 PM

– Feb 5th – 4:00 PM

– Feb 5th – 5:00 PM

– Feb 5th – 6:00 PM

– Feb 6th – 7:00 PM

– Feb 7th – 10:00 PM

– Feb 8th – 2:00 AM

Great job! You guys represented us well. I'm proud to be a "software architect". I wish I could have seen all of the footage. Something tells me the "object thing" would have been great. Especially to see the look on her face while he explained inheritance and polymorphism.

Rory, you owned Nick. I'm sure there was tons of stuff left out that would have been comedy gold. I was hoping to see a whole hour of you guys, too bad....

Sorry about the girl calling you gay on national tv.

Nice! I'll be watching. FYI, according to Tivo, it's only being rebroadcast once on 1/5. It will be 3PM PST.

Yeah, Rory was hilarious. Essentially, they edited the whole thing where Nick = loser and Rory = funny guy.

Rory did an awesome job though... they had enough material to use just us for a whole show, but I guess they prefer these lame little "snippet" stories.

Props for representin, G's!

You stole the show. Way too funny. I, too, wish they would have shown more of you guys and less of the shadow dancer and proposal thing. You guys were way funnier. Reminds me of the good old days.

They cut a *lot* of stuff, but the end result isn't so bad. They edited it in such a way that it works pretty well - when we were there, I was wondering how they were going to chop it up so that the whole thing would flow, and they did a good job.

Still, though... There are some things I really wish had made it into the show, but 's OK :)

"Sorry about the girl calling you gay on national tv."

I've been living with ambiguously gay status for years.

I only wish she had been a little more explicit. She didn't really call me gay, but merely *hinted* at it.

And, yeah - to her credit, I *did* talk about guys a lot with her.

I guess I must have missed Rory, I thought he WAS the shadow dancer but from all these other comments, that just doesn't add up.

:(

Maybe I'll be able to catch him the next airing, is that segment on first?

Are you shore?

Are you kidding? I've been trying to get him to speak up since he started co-hosting! He's intimidating-guru-on-the-phone shy or something!

He said it: "Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear"
