NeoFox Aftershocks

I was up in Redmond this week, doing some stuff for Microsoft or some stuff or something like that, and I got this email, but wasn’t able to give it the attention it deserves until today.

Just fabulous…

In reference to my NeoFox browser application, an email from Paul Olson over at ChooseOpera:

Dear Rory,

I am contacting you regarding your impressive entry for the internet browsing experience. Judging by the quality and caliber of coding including with your "Neofox" browser we would be interested in your talents for the world class Opera browser.

Judging by your quick load times and minimalist features you are of the same philosophy as we, at Opera, firmly believe should be part of everyone's browsing experience.

Currently we are in search of talented individuals to offer input on a contract basis to improve our powerful Opera browser. This is an ongoing effort to gain market share in the next 5 years to position the Opera browser as a viable, friendly and powerful alternative to the mainstream browsers available today.

I hope that you seriously consider exploring Opera, not only as a browser you will use but also funnel your talents toward helping Opera become an even higher caliber, market visible product.

Please contact me for more details on becoming an important part of the future of browsing.

Regards,

Paul Olson

I don’t know what to say.

Paul, I recognize that you have fine taste in brilliance, but I must, regretfully, decline the offer to come and make Opera the browser that will conquer them all.

Nice, though it may be, it’s perfectly obvious that, as CEO of the NeoZilla corporation, there would be an extreme conflict of interest were I to cross enemy lines and contribute my flavor of techno-genius to your own project.

I’m sorry, but NeoFox is the future, and you will taste that future when NeoFox grinds your company into the ground. You’ll taste the salty streaks of defeat as they slide out of your ducts and down your cheeks, to finally rest on the tip of your tongue where they will be, necessarily, recycled for future emotional outpourings as you watch your professional life crumble around you to land at the feet of NeoFox.

Are you a praying man, Paul? ‘Cause you’re gonna need all the help you can get. The unstoppable steamroller of progress has been unleashed, and its name is NeoFox.

Watch.

Weep.

Regret.

Etc.

[Seriously, though, your email brightened my whole week :) Thanks. ]

Rory,

I want to wish you good luck on your endeavors with the NeoZilla corp. I was a huge IE fan, then switched to Firefox. (Firefox helped me get the ladies). Now, I am proud to say that not only is NeoFox my default browser, but I have converted my workplace over. Everyone loves it! the scrolling marques also make the page far easier to read with less strain on the eyes (your eyes don't even need to move, neofox moves the words for you!).

I saw we move on this. has anyone checked to see if switch2neofox.com is available? I'd be down for offering hosting services.

Regarding a dot net rocks episode in which we talked about The Office:

Were you talking about the american re-make, or the 2001 original (brilliant) british one that won a bunch of awards, that I recently purchased on DVD.

Not sure.

If I said something *good*, then it was about the original. if I said something *bad*, then it was about the new one.

I saw a preview for the new one and almost vomited. It looks horrible.

Given the power and momentum of NeoFox, I was interested in getting in on the ground floor before you go IPO. How can we as investors/developers join the NeoFox team? I too am committed to force feeding others their own tears of defeat and feel I would be a great addition to the team.

David Brent: If a good man comes to me, and says thank you David, for the opportunity and continued support in the work-related arena, but I've done that, I wanna better myself, I wanna move on, then I can make that dream come true, to, AKA, for you.
