    Just Curious

What happened?! I noticed that Rory and what's-her-face ... 'Tee', removed themselves form each others myspace - because I lurk - so I can only assume they broke up and the hate they now have for one another is stronger than a thousand suns. So what happened?

Did it happen just recently, or was it a long time ago? - was it because of me?

It's because you touch yourself at night!

ps. I noticed that too, but didn't think much of it.  If you've been around these parts for some time, you'd know the pattern pretty well.  Sure, I'm rooting for him each time... but I'm not expecting a trip to the Superbowl anytime soon.  Lucky in life, unlucky in love?   Who knows... whatever it is, he definitely has no problem hooking them on his rod, they just always seem to find their way out of the bucket.

ppps.  I'm not one who believes that all romantic relationships are destined for marriage.   Depending on where you are in your  life and what you are looking for, the relationships serve different purposes.

No, no, no... not your fault.

And, I removed her from my friends list because I wanted to spend some time with her completely out of sight and out of mind.

When you love someone, and when you have to let that person go under good circumstances, it's even harder than if one of the people had done something terrible to the other, or whatever. It's harder because you know you're leaving something good behind.

After a while, though, she send me a friend request, and I accepted. The period of healing was over.

Now we email from time to time.

I just learned, for example, that she was accepted to flight school, which is awesome. She's only nineteen, but very ambitious, and so, so full of potential. That was one of the reasons I didn't want to let her go - someone like her, with her brains and abilities, is someone whose life would be much more interesting to watch than TV or a movie and so on...

(Can you tell I still have a crush? Yeah.)

But, when I think about it - if we had continued and she, for example, moved out here, then would she be going to flight school and chasing her dreams?

I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. But, because of the possibility of the "Maybe not," our parting was for the best. She's moved on to new things (and probably a new guy, although I don't know), and I've moved on to new things as well (but not a new girl).

Things turned out fairly well, all things considered.

I'm sad to see her go.  She was a contributing member of the forums (speaking of... where is Punky?) and fun to have around.  Not to mention, easy on the eyes!  Stick out tongue [:P]

Why couldn't you have just taken one for the team and done whatever was necessary to keep her at Neopoleon.com?

I'm right about here, back in the old office. I've been a bit busy lately, fighting the flu, writing an essay for a seminar on science, society and ethics (no less), and forcing enough knowledge out of probably the most inaccessible book I've ever read to pass my exam on static program analysis (man, those theoriticians sure know their theory).

I don't think Tee is gone either. She might be a little less active these days (understandably so, given the course of events), but she does seem to pop up every now and then, doesn't she? Which is a good thing.

Fortunately, she's still kind of around. As you pointed out, she's not coming around as often for obvious reasons, but she still graces us with her presence every so often.

One cool thing is that she got into flight school. I'm quite proud of her. I love that she had a goal and followed through on it. That was one of the things that attracted me to her - she's tenacious. Like any exceptionally bright and intelligent person, she goes through her bouts of doubt and depression, but she comes out the other end fine.

I hope she does well. Someone as magnificent, beautiful, intelligent, curious, and creative as her deserves everything she wants in life. And, given the strength of her character, I have little doubt that she'll get what she wants in life.

    Ah... Tee.

    I miss her.

They say (when they say, "they say", who is the "they" they are refering to?) that if you love something, set it free.  If it comes back to you, it's yours.  If not, you were a dumbass to let it go in the first place.

I think it's the voices in your head. Or the dead. Or possibly the leprechauns.

I never understood that saying. How do you "keep" a person? They're free to come and go as they please.

Unless you're a wife battering loony, in which case you may be able to keep them, but only by metaphorically breaking their legs so they can't walk away. Which hardly counts as love.

first you need a house on a large plot of land. preferrably with a large barb wire fence and several large mean hungry dogs to roam freely on the grounds.

Next you need a basement with a large pit dug in the middle of it.

the rest is kind of easy from there actually. though don't expect to get decent christmas presents.

Rory, did she get into someplace like Embry Riddle? or did she get into the flight program of a regular college?

I know Purdue had a good flight program that I wasn't good enough for. But Indiana State was more than happy to accept me and take my money. Though the computer lured me away pretty quickly when I saw how much it was going to cost to learn how to fly.

though I guess I should ask her really, though you post more than she does.

something very clever and just a little cheeky.

I am in Western Michigan University's Flight Program...they have one of the best in the nation.  They are training us in the new fleet of Cirrus SR20's that they have (approximately 30 of them).  They have a parachute system called CAPS which floats the whole plane down to safety.  Pretty cool.  It's rocket propelled.  Although it's not recommended beneath 1000 feet so if you've just taken off...you're kind of "screwed".

Also, I won't be appearing anymore on neopoleon.com for reasons that will remain unmentioned.  But all of you should know this:  I love you all and I loved the time I spent with you.  If you still want to hear about me and my adventures, you can read my blog (if I ever keep up with it) at www.livejournal.com/tee-is-me

Hm. So I guess this is one of those Bobby Jean moments? All good things must come to pass. It's unfortunate, though. I for one enjoyed the conversation, companionship and comedy.

Nice quote, too. As for me, I'll offer up a paraphrase of one of my favorite poems:

    I shall go forth,
I shall traverse the forums awhile, but I cannot tell whither or how long,
Perhaps soon some day or night while I am surfing my voice will
    suddenly cease.

I'll check up on your blog every so often. In theory, I have a blog too, it's just that it's never updated and nobody reads it (if a tree falls in the forest...)

The writing that's there is exquisite though ;-)

Anyhoo. Good luck, goodbye, the song says. While my pleasure is yet at the full, I whisper, So long!
