    Lets start the discussing already.

pshaw!  This is like the slowest book club ever.

I have read the first chapter.  I find this book difficult to read.  I find myself having to go back and reread paragraphs over and over again to figure out what the author is getting at.  Is it just me?

Other than that...I don't have much to say.

I think Alan Watts was hot.  He had a nice fluffy mustache.  hee hee that tickles.

My book doesn't come until Monday, but now you've got me wishing I ordered the "for Dummies" edition.

The mind plays tricks on you. You play tricks back! It's like you're unraveling a big cable-knit sweater that someone keeps knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting...

I feel bad suggesting that we all discuss when some of us are still waiting for the book.  I guess y'all need more time.

Is this real? Did the book club actually start?

I got really busy with the whole condo-buying-while-mom-calls-the-cops-on-me thing, and figured I'd wait until Feb to get it going properly.

I mean, there's a book chosen? And people are reading it?

    Really?

I feel like an idiot :) Guess I'll go back through the forums and try to piece together what happened in my absence and see if I can get caught up...

Rory!  Welcome to your book club!  That's right, there IS a book club.  AND a book.  As to how many people have it and are reading...your guess is as good as mine.

In your absence, the book club forum descended into anarchy.  Many were killed in the battle that ensued.  Those of us that were left drew up a treaty.  It stated that we would no longer fight against each other.  We would work through issues and run the book club as best we could in your stead.  And most importantly, we would use combine our powers to defend the earth at the first sign of alien invasion.

For a while there was peace throughout the club.  Then came the day we decided on a book.  The quest for the book was perilous.  Where would one find such an old manuscript in time to be involved in the discussion?  There was no clear answer.  Many of us turned to the gods of Amazon, hoping that they would take pity on us and ship us something quickly.  Others many the long journey to their local used book store, oftentimes only to find that their quest had been for naught.

The search for the book has been an ordeal that has consumed many of your followers.  I tell you this not to turn you from the journey you too will have to take, but merely to make you feel bad about the deaths of so many due to your will.  I figure that will get you off to a good start on the religion topic, since now you'll have a idea of what it's like to be a god.  I mean, it's hard!  All the people blaming you for things and asking for stuff.  Who wants that kind of job? I'm hoping the answer will make itself clear as I read the writings that so many have sacrificed so much for.  AKA - "The Wisdom of Insecurity" by Mr. Watts.

And so, on behalf of the few survivors, I welcome you back into the fold.  To show that there are no hard feelings, I pardon you of the crime of leaving us and offer you the rights to a free beer, coffee, or other drink of your choosing.

Also, come up with a date to start discussing.  I mean, come on, it's gotta start sometime.  How about the 4th?

Ok, the library was a BAD idea. I'm still waiting on a copy! Now I will have to call in sick so I can catch up on my reading. Oooh, actually that's a really good idea.

My copy arrived yesterday, so I'm ready to start. In fact I read the first chapter. I didn't really understand what was going on, but my theory is it's just an introduction, and everything will be explained as you progress with the book.

Hmm, I have been notified that the earliest that I can expect to recieve the book is in a week, so I am not able to participate in any discussion yet... But you go ahead, I'll join in later...

Don't worry. For a quick synopsis, listen to "Within You and Without You." George Harrison was singing Watt's song.
